TIM PORTER (on Rutland Boughton)

Tim Porter first encountered Rutland Boughton's music as a boy growing up in Glouctestershire, though never lucky enough to meet the man himself. Tim did become acquainted with Boughton's biographer, Michael Hurd, from he learned a great deal. After studying music and drama at Dartington College of Arts, Tim formed an operatic touring company called "Green Branch" and inspired by Peter Maxwell Davies' "Fires of London" ensemble, it became a mouthpiece for his own music-dramas. On a deeper level, Boughton and his Glastonbury Festival Players were for him the true template. the company ran from 1970 to 1986 after which Tim embarked on s second career as a freelance lecturer in the fields of music and medieval history and now speaks to members of music clubs, history societies, adult education and students as well as at Oxford's Ashmolean Museum.

MARTIN LEE-BROWNE (on Frederic Austin)

Martin Lee-Browne is Frederic Austin’s grandson, and Balfour Gardiner was one of his grandfathers. At Cambridge, he was a timpanist and sang with the University Madrigal Society. Both Martin and his wife were for many years members of the Three Choirs Festival Chorus and the London Philharmonic Choir. He was a solicitor in a country practice, and became a senior member of the Territorial Army. He has written a biography of his grandfather and a history of his TA regiment, and his major book, Delius and his Music, written jointly with Paul Guinery, is to be published in the autumn. Martin is currently Chairman of the Delius Society.

MICHAEL JONES (on Edgar Bainton)
Michael Jones is an active pianist, organist, teacher, lecturer, musicologist, historian and biographer of English composer, Edgar Bainton. He was born in Birmingham and graduated from the now Birmingham Conservatoire. After studying with a variety of teachers as well as masterclasses he made his London recital debut in 1983. Michael's chief achievement has been championing the music of Edgar Bainton and has published a substantial study of his life and music in "British Music" magazine as well as helping to establsih the Edgar Bainton (UK) Society.

LOUISE MOTT - Mezzo Soprano

Louise Mott studied singing at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, London. She also attended  the Royal College of Music Opera Course and the National Opera Studio. Recent engagements have included Mozart's Requiem and Solemn Vespers for the Bach Choir and the OAE at the Royal Festival Hall, London, Helen King Priam at the Brighton Festival, 2nd Witch (& Dido cover) Dido and Aeneas for Opera North, La FrugolaIl tabarro & La Ciesca Gianni Schicchi for Caledonian Opera at Haddo House Hall, Flora Bervoix La Traviata for Diva Opera, and Third Lady The Magic Flute for Opera Project. Engagements for 2014 include Elgar's The Kingdom and Bach's St Matthew Passion at Truro Cathedral, Bach's B minor Mass atExeter Cathedral, Nicklausse Les Contes d'Hoffmann for Diva Opera, Mrs Grose The Turn of the Screw for Seastar Opera, Mrs Segstrom A Little Night Music for Opera Project and Ottavia (cover) The Coronation of Poppea for Opera North.

MARK BAIGENT - Oboe

Mark Baigent is on eof the country's leading period oboists, specialising in music from Baroque to Modern. Marks' rendition of his oboe Sequenza that it was the best performance he had heard. As an orchestral oboist he regularly records and broadcasts Baroque, Classical, Romantic and Early Twentieth Century repertoire with leading period instrumentalists throughout the world including Orchestre Revolutionnaire et Romantique, the English Baroque Soloisrs, Orchestra of Enlightenment, the King's Consort, Neue Philharmonic Utrecht and Classical Opera. Mark also regularly works as a soloist and a chamber musician and has appeared on radio and at music clubs and festivals throughout the UK. This year his oboe trio "Pipers3" premiere a new work by Richard Causton at two concerts in Bath.

Charme du Hautbois brings the freshness and lightness of period performance to the 19^th and early 20^th centuries presenting rarely heard repertoire for oboe and bassoon with harp, strings or piano in an accessible and dynamic way.

Using instruments made by leading makers of the time; oboes by Triebert, Loree & Mönnig) a French System bassoon by Buffet, a harp by Erard and strings set up historically using part gut, part metal, Charme du Hautbois will bring you a truly memorable concert.

The players are leading early music and modern instrument specialists with a wealth of experience performing with the worlds leading orchestras including the English Baroque Soloists, Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment, Australia Chamber Orchestra, London Symphony, Royal Opera House, Oslo Philharmonic, Kings Consort, Gabrieli Consort and in chamber ensembles including Lontano, the Beethoven Broadwood Trio, the Allegri String Quartet, Pipers 3 and the Endymion Ensemble.
